Who We Are
PRS Geo–Technologies®, is a global geotechnical engineering company that helps build a future where every corner of the world is accessible. For over 20 years, we combine advanced technology with proven engineering expertise, to implement a complete solution for load support, slope protection, earth retention and landfill applications in South Africa.
The very heart of our technology is a strong and durable cellular confinement system for soil stabilization, named Neoloy® Geocell. With PRS Neoloy Geocell solutions you can build better roads, over any challenging soil, while saving at least 50% of the costs and time required for your project.
We believe advanced technologies should be green — this is why our solution is based on utilizing marginal land and recycled materials. When using our solution, you’ll be using less asphalt, less aggregate and utilize locally available soil for structural infill. This makes our advanced technology sustainable.
In thousands of successful projects, implemented in 75 countries worldwide, including South Africa, and validated by more than 55 published papers – PRS has proved that in the 21st century we can leverage advanced technology to build a more sustainable future. We can now pave better roads with less resources and time.

Our Story – The New Generation of Geocells
It all started a long time ago… For thousands of years different cultures have used different techniques to strengthen soil. The Mayas, for instance, used branches to build roads over swamps more than 4000 years ago. Geocells were developed in the late 1970’s by the United States Army Corps of Engineers to land heavy equipment on sandy beaches of Vietnam. The first geocells were made of cardboard, cloth, aluminum and eventually plastic.
Then commercial used began… In the 1980’s geocells were finally used in commercial applications using High Density Polyethylene (HDPE). Over time leading engineering companies and academic institutes realized that HDPE geocells were lacking the engineering properties and design methodologies required for long term use. Therefore, these early geocells were not qualified for long term load support or other permanent use applications.
And then a new geocell generation emerged… In 2004, with the emergence of advanced polymer technologies, PRS embarked an extensive R&D program with world renowned geotechnical experts and institutions to develop a Novel Polymer Alloy (NPA). We named it Neoloy®. Known as ‘Tough Cells’, Neoloy Geocells provide superior engineering properties- high elastic stiffness, resistant to plastic deformation (creep) and high tensile strength, making them suitable for load support, heavy-duty and long term use.
We have come a long way since then… For the past 10 years the engineering performance of Neoloy Geocells is established and proven in more than 55 professional published papers and in thousands of projects worldwide. The collaborative testing program included leading institutes and authorities around the world, such as the US Federal Highway Administration (FHA) and state Departments Of Transportation (DOTs), the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), KOAC-NPC Road Standards Institute, and other geosynthetics standards and transportation agencies worldwide.

PRS Solution – What our Customers Say About Us
For the last 10 years PRS Neoloy Geocells solution is showing impressive results. The following are sample recent projects and testimonials.
New Airport International of Mexico built on a Swamp: leading international engineering consultants and the NAICM authority selected PRS-Neoloy-330 Category C geocell after extensive testing and trials on problematic soils (CBR <1%).
“The PRS-Neoloy Geocell was the only qualified solution that not only met, but exceeded, all our project requirements…”
Mario Gonzales, Ancora Pavement Engineering, Mexico
Fast Military Access Road Construction, UK Ministry of Defence (MOD): PRS was chosen due to its high-modulus Neoloy Geocell, quality management, large production capability and proven experience in Route TRIDENT Afghanistan, where it helped save lives, reduced the amount of materials used by 75% and save on construction time while under fire.
“Neoloy Geocells reinforcement system enabled a 75% reduction in aggregate use, and contributed to a reduction in projected cost of the road by 1/3 as compared to traditional building methods.”
Lieut. Colonel M T G Bazeley Royal Engineers
